Hi there. I’m Hailey Myers (she/her). I write about animal welfare news, ecological issues, farmed animals, and books. I live in the Pacific Northwest and share my home with two cats, fish, a jungle of plants, and a human.
My publishing experience includes volunteer work at Electric Literature’s literary magazine, “Recommended Reading.” I have done publicity work for Driftwood Press. I also conduct author interviews on behalf of Ashland Creek Press. If you are a vegan author whose work deals with animal rights or ecological themes, please reach out via the contact me form below.
Currently, I write for Lady Freethinker about animal news and ecological issues. My background in animal welfare also includes outreach and writing for a farmed animal sanctuary. Previously, I worked in youth literacy. I still get excited about a good kids book! I’ve been a head preschool teacher, provided direct services to education and social service nonprofits, and interned as a summer school teacher at a homeless shelter. In my free time, I enjoy reading (literary fiction and short stories from literary magazines) and creative writing.
Finally, to answer the question you’re likely still wondering: Yes. The cats talk back. Especially my Siamese rescue cat, Sequoia, who uses speech buttons to communicate (in addition to yodeling).
